Established at our Oriental art gallery in Mayfair, London since 1976, and as a family antique business for three generations, we are specialist dealers in Asian art - including Chinese art, Japanese art, Himalayan art, Indian art, and Southeast Asian art - the scope of our stock being eclectic and diverse, but concentrating on rarity and quality.
Our Asian art collections embrace 'scholar's taste' objects, early ceramics, Japanese and Chinese porcelain (including Chinese Export porcelain), Chinese furniture, lacquer, enamels, and sculptural work (both large scale and cabinet size) - with many bronze statues; they include a selection of Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian sculptures, alongside Buddhist art and ritual objects. Figurative art features, in many forms, throughout our gallery - with Tang dynasty pottery figures and animals, Buddha statues in bronze, stone and wood, cloisonné enamel mythical beasts, and porcelain birds. We invite you to view a small changing selection of items from our superb and unique range of Oriental Art in 'our collections'.
Highlights of our current exhibition include sculptural works in stone, bronze and wood - from China, the Himalayas, India, and Southeast Asia. They range in size from the miniature to larger than life.
A magnificent Gandhara model of a stupa, 2nd/3rd century takes centre stage at our Mount Street gallery. Surrounding this monumental piece are an array of Hindu gods and goddesses including a sensuous sandstone relief of a female deity, late 10th century, Rajasthan, and an 11th century, Chola bronze standing figure of Vishnu.
Alongside these stands a large 10th century, Cambodian stone figure of Ganesh - whilst a Song dynasty polychrome stone sleeping louhan, 12th century keeps company with a large and splendid seated gilt bronze Buddha, 14th century, Tibet.
By way of contrast, a large and playful famille verte porcelain group of two boys, Kangxi period look on with amusement at the sight of a lively dancing bronze figure of a naked Krishna of the Chola period.
Also on view are many more fine examples of both Chinese and Japanese porcelain, Chinese furniture, an extensive collection of early Chinese lacquer, cloisonné and Canton enamels, Buddhist art - including gilt bronze portrait figures, and Tang dynasty pottery figures and animals. In addition, there are further superb works of art in bamboo, glass, ivory and horn, jade, and soapstone.
All in all - a feast for the eyes and soul!
