Bamboo brush washer

Carved from a single section, in the round, the bamboo takes the form of a fruit or gourd – its interior hollowed out through an irregular undulating opening in the top surface. A thick stem elevates the washer off a rocky ground; it rises to connect to the side of the container – flanked at that point, by lingzhi scrolls. Additional lingzhi heads and a branch encircle the base – in effect creating a pierced stand – the carving continuing under the washer, with two more lingzhi heads and further rockwork.
