Tibet
15th century

The figure is seated in the lotus position upon a lotus base; this rests upon a semi circular architectural platform decorated with peacocks and vajras, and standing on three scrolling leaf feet. The deity is crowned and bejewelled with bracelets and necklaces inlaid with turquoise. He holds a jar in both hands that rest in his lap in dhyana mudra - the gesture of absolute balance in meditation. The figure is framed by a mandala of scrolling leaves and flowers, and decorated with various Buddhist emblems.
