Blown with a bulbous body and long cylindrical neck, the bottle sits on a slanting foot rim, the underside slightly recessed – preserving an Imperial mark. The lemon-yellow colour is even throughout, and polished to a smooth gloss. The wheel-cut four-character mark reads ‘Qianlong Nian Zhi’ (made in the Qianlong period).
Provenance: A. Colin Maillard.
Similar example: Luster of Autumn Water, Glass of the Qing Imperial Workshop, compiled by Zhang Rong, and published by Forbidden City Publishing House, Beijing, 2005 – plate 5 illustrates a vase of the same colour and form, marked ‘Yongzheng Nian Zhi’. |
